Our Guests

When we first researched holiday letting I read multiple owners saying that your guests aren't your friends, but how lucky we've been that over the years we can definitely say some of our guests are now friends.

This year has been our quietest yet, but what lovely guests we've had, one an orchid expert, given us one of his orchids and book on orchids, having discovered that Laugharne has 15 different types of orchids - I'm not great with houseplants but I have followed his instructions and this week saw a new shoot emerging.

So many guests share with us their experiences of their breaks here, be it where they've visited or eaten, some know the area well and others come for specific reasons, puffin trips to Skomer, Tenby a 20 minute drive away for the day, Laugharne walks and the Dylan Thomas collection, but by far the most visited are the castles. Our last guests drove to Caerphilly Castle for the day having holidayed in Pembrokeshire had previously been to Carew, Picton, Pembroke. Laugharne, Kidwelly, LLanstephan and Carmarthen are all easily accessed.

After Easter we try to put home grown flowers in the Cwtch, this year the main flowers have been alstroemeria or agapanthus, the year before I had a prolific collection of dahlias, many of which ended up in the Cwtch, sometimes a small bunch of sweet peas with their fragrant aroma, have been picked.

We are often surprised at the kind gifts our guests have given us, which all take us by surprise and are not expected, this year a jar of homemade honey and bottle of whisky, for the Cwtch a teabag holder - I didn't know they existed but what a great invention, chocolates and for our cat who is not allowed into the Cwtch, but spends a lot of the day going in and out of our back door a bag of "dreamies".

Laugharne has a big excavation behind closed walls in the centre as part of the Island House renovation where they have identified old Quay Walls, so no doubt in the future this will interest other guests.

Why not make the most of the vacancies we have and come and visit. No gifts required, but we just hope you'll enjoy your stay
